Hey everyone! I’m Monica, a freelance fantasy illustrator. I’m currently looking to take commissions so I can save some money for a cross country move that I will be making in the near future. Whether you’re interested in having your D&D character brought to life, an illustration for a book cover, a portrait, or anything else fantasy illustration related, I’d love to work on it with you!
You can contact me at monicamarieart@gmail.com (serious inquiries only please!)
If you’re not interested in commissioning me but you still want to help, reblogging this would be tremendously appreciated!
I attended The Illustration Master Class this year. This was my final image. The assignment I took was a book cover for the third installment of the Binti series by Nnedi Okorafor. The entire experience was a blast and I recommend it for anyone wanting to improve as an illustrator.
Oil on canvas.
A killed drawing for the Wall Street Journal about the history of robots in film, specifically dealing with Neill Blomkampt’s “Chappie.” Was originally supposed to run as a cover, but the story got moved to the interior and there was no space for the illustration. Oh well! Thanks to my AD, Manny Velez.
I have zero experience drawing robots (especially not complicated robots), so this was a S T R U G G L E. I had very limited time to do the piece (48 hours or so), but all in all, I’m happy with how it turned out. It’s different from my usual work, but that’s ok. You can imagine how many other robots I would’ve crammed in there if I had my druthers.
One of the requests I received was to draw myself as Santa or Krampus.
OF COURSE I choose Krampus. Gotta steal those bad babies to raise them myself, the good way. So here’s my Krampusona, waving hello while hard at work.
That was supposed to be a little drawing, but it got out of hand and I drew a illustration. Kinda happy about it, for once!
